For some customers we provide a full retail rent review service that includes all aspects of negotiations, inspections and measurement, interpreting lease provisions and establishing comparables, negotiating, and if necessary pursuing to third-party expert or arbitration determination. Other customers simply wish us to handle specific elements, perhaps dealing with arbitrations or providing market rent assessments.

Rates
SGP's rating team provides customers with a comprehensive rates management service that includes rates liability advice, appeal management and payment processing.
You want to ensure that you haven't overpaid so a thorough rates audit investigates historical demands to match against factors such as occupation dates, exempt properties and local authority errors.
Following the 2010 rating revaluation, many customers have seen a large increase in rateable values. Early assessment of these new charges is advised to maximise the possibilities for providing savings.
Discretionary relief
If you have properties that have been empty temporarily due to a refit or a disastrous event such as fire or flood, or if you have vacant space within an otherwise occupied building, you could benefit from our service.
Our team is especially well qualified to secure savings by negotiating rate relief and exemptions which only local authorities have powers and discretions to award. We do not compete with any retained rating agents who negotiate rating assessments, nor do we negotiate rateable values direct with the Valuation Officer.

Service Charge
Poorly managed service charges are a frequent cause of disputes between occupiers and owners. Our industry leading service charge team works with some of the UK's largest retailers including Arcadia and Tesco. By examining their service charge exposure in one off audits or through an ongoing management process, we ensure that they pay only what they have to.
We have developed and introduced an industry leading service charge management system that gives clients web access to their property documents and real time reporting across their service charge exposure. This makes the process more efficient and transparent, and delivers further opportunities to challenge service charges.
