Head of Procurement at property & facilities management company SGP, Martyn Sherrington, spoke at the eWorld Purchasing and Supply annual conference in London last week and also led the best practice session on optimising visibility for clients. The conference is the UK's premier event focusing on the use of leading-edge technologies and techniques within the procurement and supply chain functions. Since 2001, this forum has provided a unique insight into the latest developments in electronic commerce for senior purchasing, supply chain and finance executives.
Sherrington, who has been instrumental in the remodelling of the SGP supply chain management function and the development and launch of the new supplier accreditation system, described the complexity of managing 3,000 suppliers and 850,000 transactions in a rapidly expanding organisation. The presentation showcased the dashboards created by the procurement team for supplier performance as well as the web-based interfaces for supply chain management and procurement of services and the proposed integration with other e-procurement tools.
"We were delighted to be invited to speak at the well-attended conference. It was an opportunity to benchmark our current activity with an audience of procurement professionals, as well as showcase some of our plans for the future of our supply chain management function," said Martyn.
